Movie Review - Gentleman (Telugu)

This 144.30 minutes movie has proven yet again that a skilled director can get the maximum out of his cast.
The film opens up with the mandatory caution on smoking and drinking with Nani's voice saying "Mandhu, cigarette traagakandi - pothaaru - hero aina, villain aina". That sounded good and natural with the required fun element and the message.
The storyline by David Nathan is good and the screenplay by Mohan Krishna Indraganti added a touch of thrill and suspense right till the last minute. The film opens with two young, good looking women as co-passengers aboard an international flight sharing their love stories to pass time during the course of the flight. Surabhi and Niveda Thomas played these two characters as Aishwarya and Catherine respectively in a neat manner with the latter stealing the show by virtue of her role. How their love stories evolved was captured innovatively and youthfully by the director. The first half of the film takes the audience till the door of suspense and leaves them there by arousing serious curiosity to come back soon and watch the second half.
Nani in the dual role as Gautam and Jai was at his natural best. He is truly the anchor of the film playing both roles with ease that only a seasoned actor would have. His diction and delivery are too good and leave the audience in splits in certain scenes.
The comedy element is supported by Vennela Kishore who did a fantastic job as Darshanam the boss. Avasarala Srinivas played his negative role expertly. So did Srimukhi as reporter though she had a few scenes. The other actors like Tanikella, Rohini, Anand, Pragathi and Satyam Rajesh did their bit as well.
Soundtrack by Mani Sharma is rich and added value to the screenplay. The songs, four in number are good with "Saturday night fever..." ranking at the top.
This movie is sure to take Nani's acting career to the next level.
Overall I would give **** to this movie.
