India's Tryst with 'Modisty' - An Ordinary Citizen’s Letter to PM Shri.Narendra Modi

Dear Mr.Prime Minister Firstly, congratulations on becoming the PM of a vast nation of people with full of ambitions and aspirations that were hardly met by the earlier regimes. You took the reins as PM of this country at a time when the whole nation was sick and tired of the status quo governance, when the young first-time voters were impatient for results and when the frustration levels were at a peak. You have rightly gauged the above situation and came to power with a record majority after almost 30 years of one such instance by promising to make the middle-class and the poor your center of governance. Naturally, the expectations of the public are at a peak. Every act, behavior and decision of yours is all under severe scrutiny especially by the powers that have been put to rest by your record-breaking election results. There are several columns appearing in various newspapers that your 100 days are not worth as of now though you have another 1725 days to show what you cou

The Sai Baba of Shirdi – God or Guru or both

I start this column in complete reverence to His Holiness Sri Shankaracharya of Dwaraka Peeth Swami Swaroopanand Saraswathi and with the blessings of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. In the last few days, there is a lot of hullabaloo happening on Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi with Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswathi of Dwarka Peeth exhorting Sai devotees on June 23 not to treat Sai Baba as God and to stop worshipping him. The devotees of Sai Baba felt outraged and there was wide spread condemnation of Shankaracharya’s words. Saidham Charitable Trust filed a PIL in Supreme Court on 17 th September seeking its intervention in the matter and to direct the Centre to restrain people from making derogatory remarks on Shirdi Sai and to prevent Swamiji or his disciples from removing Sai Baba’s idols from any of the temples across the country. As an ordinary devotee of Shirdi Sai , I would like to put forth a few of the thoughts about what I feel Sai Baba is all about after having read and unde

Book Review: Multipliers – How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter

I read this interesting and enriching book by Liz Wiseman written along with management consultant Greg McKeown . Liz spent almost 17 years with Oracle Corporation in senior management role. Greg is a partner at The Wiseman Group and is a MBA from Stanford University. Those of us who are employed have to deal with three levels of people at all times. At the top are the superiors, in the middle or same level are the peers and at the bottom are the subordinates. The same person who delivers extra-ordinary results under one leadership completely falters under another leader. A doubt may arise as to why and how the same individual performed differently under two different leaders though the task remained the same. This book addresses such doubts. The authors have done an extensive research of around 150 top-notch executives around the world to understand the different styles of leadership and address the issue of varied performance. Based on their findings from the survey, they

KRISHNA – The Greatest Inspiration

Indians across the globe celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami on 17 th August 2014 with lot of fervor as is done every year as per the star. It would do world of good for all of us to understand his appearance in the human form almost more than 5125 years ago, especially for all those who are presumably struggling in life in spite of having several daily comforts of living. His Birth – He was born in the most unexpected of places, in a jail, where his parents were placed in miserable conditions by his own uncle to kill their every offspring to protect himself from the reported danger to his life as per the oracle from the sky. Troubles started for Him the moment he appeared. His father Vasudev had to carry Him on his head in the middle of a cyclonic night in fiery circumstances to Vrindavan to save Him from the hands of Kamsa. His childhood – At a time when every kid lives in the cozy comforts of his home and the care of parents, He was always under constant threat to be kill
