Movie Review - Sardar Gabbar Singh (Telugu)

The best gift Telugu people can get on Ugadi is a big star's film releasing on the day. This 163 minute movie is an out and out entertainer for the fans of Pawan Kalyan which he has dedicated to them. The story as the poster says is all about guns, guts and love. The dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra, are well written and impactfully delivered by the characters. Some of the dialogues worth mentioning are "chanipoyina vyavastholo praanalu vetukutunnam", "yevari pani vaalllu cheysthe thanks cheppakoodadu, adedo goppanukoni appudappudu manchi cheystuntaaru", "gelavataniki vacchhinavaadu raju kaadhu, gelichina vaade Raju", "puttina prathiokkadu bhoomi naadhi anukuntaadu, kaani chivariki vaadu bhoomike chendutaadu". The film as expected is about how the hero, Sardar Gabbar Singh saves an entire town Rattanpur in Chattisgarh from the powerful clutches of one Raja Bhairav Singh, played impressively by Sharad Kelkar. The storyline of the film for which Pawan Kalyan is also a producer revolves and resembles to some extent to illegal land mining that happened in southern states and how it impacted the lives of farmers. Kajal Aggarwal best suited the role as Princess Arsha Devi. She was stunningly beautiful in certain shots. The first song sets the stage positively for the audience by taking them back to blockbuster Gabbar Singh.
The comedy is well played out. Brahmanandam as Sekhar Singh Chowhan, Uravasi as Madhumati, Ali as Samba et al did their bit well in elevating the fun elements in the movie. The songs may not be as great as in Gabbar Singh but are sure enjoyable. The choreography in the third song 'O pilla...' is good and needs a special mention. The background score and music completely engage the audience and are in tune with the screenplay. Devi Sri Prasad(DSP)has made it again. Lakshmi Rai sizzles in the item song Toba Toba Toba Toba.
The scenes involving sangeeth function in the second half of the film are hilarious and entertaining. Mega fans get to see Pawan Kalyan dance to the famous veena song of Chiranjeevi which is bound to rekindle their anxiety to see Chiru on the screen again.
The others actors like Mukesh Rishi, Raavu Ramesh, Krishna Bhagawan, Bosu Babu, Posani Krishna Murali and a host of comedians from Jabardast TV show connect well with the audience.
Overall the Director K.S.Ravindra aka Bobby seems to have done a good job and this film is sure a good Ugadi gift for Telugu audience. Can they expect the sequel Raja Sardar Gabbar Singh? The answer may be Yes or No, but Gabbar Singh has etched his name with the movie lovers as a cop who does good in the funniest and most enjoyable way. His way or High way.
I would give a **** for this movie.
