Movie Review - Gopala Gopala(Telugu)
When a
movie has content and the Director has confidence, it doesn't matter whether
the movie gets released on a Friday or a Saturday, that is what this remake of
OMG (Hindi) in Telugu proved today. It is a very difficult task for a Director
when he has to direct a remake. Not all directors will be as lucky as a Gabbar Singh
(remake of Salman Khan's Dabbang with Pawan Kalyan in the lead) director Harish
Shankar. That is because the audience already have expectations and the first
thing they do is compare.
Coming to
Gopala Gopala, I would say that Director Kishore Kumar Pardasani has done a
wonderful job. The 153 minutes movie felt as if it was over very soon. So good
was the screenplay. The first half of the movie is for 63 minutes and the
second half is 90 minutes for obvious reason and that being as there would be
both Gopals completely in the second half.
It is 'victory' Venkatesh show all the way and he played the role of
Kanneganti Gopal Rao's with much ease and élan. Whether it was comedy or action
or drama, he was at his usual best. Pawan Kalyan played Lord Krishna, the other
Gopal, with lot of care and exercising control on his usual mannerisms to fit
in the role of God. The highlights of the movie are the way the comedy was
played and the dialogues which are fully loaded and delivered well by all
actors. Music by Anup Rubens is in full tandem with the screenplay and makes
the audience to flow freely with the movie thereby enjoying every frame. Mithun
Chakraborty and Posani Krishna Murali were at their best. They aided the film's
flow with their performance. For Mithun it is a cake-walk as he played the same
role in OMG. Though Prithvi played the role of a lawyer for just one frame, he made
his mark with his patented delivery "ballalu pagilipotai ikkada". The
court proceedings are well played out and presence of Ranganath in the Judge's
role added seriousness to the same. Shriya Saran's role was more a supportive role
with limited scope for performance. Krishnudu, Vennela Kishore and others too
did their roles well. DikshaPanth as Gopika Matha looks stunning.
Major
credit is also to be given to Art Director Brahma Kadali. Though there are only
three songs in the film, they are written well and stir the thoughts of
audience. Credit goes to Seetharama Sastry, Chandrabose and Ananth Sriram.
The fact
that this is a multi-starrer and the title is that of Lord Krishna, even the
most senior citizens who could not themselves walk were among the audience and
the movie definitely did not disappoint them. It is a movie which can be
watched by entire family without having to worry about any odd scenes in
between.
Overall I
would say that the year 2015 started on a good note for Tollywood with the
success of this film.
