India's Tryst with 'Modisty' - An Ordinary Citizen’s Letter to PM Shri.Narendra Modi
Dear
Mr.Prime Minister
Firstly,
congratulations on becoming the PM of a vast nation of people with full of
ambitions and aspirations that were hardly met by the earlier regimes. You took
the reins as PM of this country at a time when the whole nation was sick and
tired of the status quo governance, when the young first-time voters were impatient
for results and when the frustration levels were at a peak. You have rightly
gauged the above situation and came to power with a record majority after
almost 30 years of one such instance by promising to make the middle-class and
the poor your center of governance.
Naturally,
the expectations of the public are at a peak. Every act, behavior and decision of
yours is all under severe scrutiny especially by the powers that have been put
to rest by your record-breaking election results. There are several columns
appearing in various newspapers that your 100 days are not worth as of now
though you have another 1725 days to show what you could achieve as PM. There
are many ‘leaders’ who lost deposits in the last elections and they are not
leaving a single opportunity to find holes in your governance. Some even
attributed the former PM’s prefix of ‘maun’ (silence) to your name. They are
overly thrilled that your party BJP has not performed well in the recent
by-polls and are campaigning that your charisma has waned.
Everything
that you do and say will send messages, set a new direction, increase or
establish new expectations and act as a benchmark for the future leaders. We are
aware of the different decisions and actions taken by you in the last 100 days aimed
at bringing in discipline in the public servants, reducing unnecessary
expenditure, making the government more accountable, leading by example on
several issues, building and strengthening foreign relations, personally
reviewing each minister’s work and so on. Even
a hardcore Congress man who is presently the President of India, Mr.Pranab
Mukherjee praised your first 100 days rule. You delivered a stunning and
praiseworthy extempore speech from the Red Fort on Independence Day
Though,
as people taken for a ride in the last 50-55 years, we are not in a hurry to
push you to soon undo our damages we expect the following from you:
1. Visit the states regularly: During elections you have created a
sort of records by campaigning in several meetings and covering the length and
breadth of this nation. You directly connected with the masses and they were
charmed by the sincerity in your words. Please see how you can visit them again
as PM. The places you visit would become better as the local administration would
spruce them up on the occasion. While Facebook is good, Face to Face is always
better.
2. Use
social media more effectively:
You are one of the few political leaders who used social media intelligently during
elections and are continuing to use it now from PMO. Please use the same social
media to know – a) what the people like or dislike about their
state, city, town, mandal and village b) what top five things would they want
the governments at the Centre and State to do in the next five years of your
rule c) What would they do for their city/town if they were in the place of
their local MLA/MP.
3. Top 5 common priorities across India: Once step 2 is done, please list
the priorities in order of importance and focus personally on the top five most
important priorities of the people across India. Focusing on everything will
lead you and your government to nowhere after five years. It is difficult to
achieve too many in a span of five years.
4. Spare no one: You have been given a comfortable
majority so that you could take decisions fearlessly and impartially. Please
utilize it to your advantage and do not spare any one either from your
government or your party who try to play spoilsport and cause damage to your reputation
which is sacrosanct as of now. You are already doing the same but that is not
enough and more visible actions are required on this subject.
5. Last but not least (LBNL) – Please
speak: A leader is
expected to speak the right words on the right occasion. Not speaking at all
and assuming that your actions would speak is not the correct approach in
public governance. People expect to hear from their top leader on burning
issues and leaving that to your subordinates will harm you, your government and
your party.
I
am sure with your never-say-die attitude; humble beginnings and your Will to do
good to last man standing would definitely help in taking India and its
citizens to the next level. I don’t think there was any PM in the past and
there wouldn’t be anyone in the future with whom every countryman can relate to
as much as with you. I hope and pray that you will take complete advantage of
your pole position and emerge as the best PM this country has ever had. I suggest you work in such a manner that every
Indian would love to have your picture at home irrespective of their caste,
creed or religion.
Your rule should give rise to a new word 'Modisty' in English, the meaning of which should stand for GOOD GOVERNANCE and the next 1700+ days should be marked as India's Tryst with Modisty.

Wishing you all the very best in your first stint as PM.
